Monroe Abrams

My name is Monroe Abram, ATC and I’m a candidate for TATS Middle Tennessee regional representative. I completed my bachelor’s degree from University of GA and Masters Degree from Springfield College, Springfield, MA.  I’ve been a certified athletic trainer since 1991 and spent the last 21 years working and living in Middle TN. Presently, I work for Vanderbilt Sports Medicine spending the last 5 years as outreach athletic trainer for Antioch HS. Prior to Vanderbilt, I spent 15 years as Head Athletic Trainer at TN State University.  During my athletic trainer career, I had opportunity to serve our profession in a few committees. I’ve been state representative and district chair for Ethnic Diversity Athletic Trainers Committee for NATA (EDAC). I also served as a member on TN Board of Athletic Trainers; I served on the board for two consecutive terms with one as Board Chair. Most recently I have served on TATS scholarship committee. I also had the privilege of developing The Dr Arnold Bell Memorial Scholarship a new SEATA scholarship for ethnic diverse athletic training students with the inaugural scholarship awarded this spring during the SEATA annual meeting.

Being that I’ve spent much of my athletic training career in Nashville and Middle Tennessee, I’m familiar with the area and know quite a few athletic trainers in the region. Through my previous athletic training activities and committee work experiences, I had the opportunity to work with students to seasoned professionals. The one thing I’ve learned is that people want to be heard and have an advocate for their ideas and issues. Over the years, I learned the athletic trainers in this region are diverse in ideas and thoughts about the future of athletic training. As your Middle TN Regional Representative, I plan to listen, take your ideas to heart and be an advocate to improve and enhance athletic training for Middle Tennessee region and TATS
