Therese Sparn
I am in my 28th year as a Special Education teacher and head Athletic Trainer at Clarksville High School. I was a student trainer at UT-Chattanooga from 1979-1984, where I received my BS in Special Education. Then, I became a graduate assistant at Austin Peay State University and completed my MA in Health and Physical Education with a minor in Administration and Supervision. I teach Resource Biology and serve as the athletic trainer for 17 sports. I am a member of the Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee and National Education Associations. I belong to the Tennessee Educators of Aquatics and Marine Sciences organization. I am also a member of the NATA, SEATA and TATS. I have been the secretary/treasurer for the Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society since 1989. I held that office until it was separated in 2004. I have since been the treasurer. I have also had the experience of getting TATS through an IRS audit and have had to stay on top of new tax laws in order to keep TATS compliant with all IRS rules. When I took over as treasurer there was $514 in our account and we now have close to $120,000 in our accounts.
